Teacher Training Opportunities
We regularly host a number of trainee teachers, that are based at Hedingham School. We pride ourselves on providing a supportive environment where people can develop and refine the skills required in our profession. We work closely with Mid Essex ITT and currently have 7 trainees based with us across a range of subject areas. Read on to find out more about training with Mid Essex ITT or visit www.midessexitt.com
What is Mid Essex ITT?
Mid Essex is an outstanding school-based Initial Teacher Training scheme. This means that you will undertake most of your training within a local Essex school environment. We will train you to teach at secondary school level and, after successfully completing the course, you will be awarded QTS and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) accredited by the University of Greenwich. We also offer both full time and part time options.
We have 25 years of experience of teacher training and over 750 teachers have trained with us. We are unique in that all our training is run by experienced, practising teachers. We are based at Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form and have links with over 20 secondary schools around Essex.
Am I eligible to train as a teacher?
You will need to have a 2:2 or above along with grade C or above for Maths and English GCSE
Why Mid Essex ITT:
- Excellent employment rates, significantly above the national average: virtually all our successful trainees are offered NQT teaching posts, many in the schools in which they trained. 96% of our 2018/19 cohort went into NQT positions versus 81% nationally (one trainee decided not to undertake their NQT year due to family commitments and another was seeking a part-time position within a specific geographic location). Our completion rates are above the national average too, 98% of trainees within our 2018/19 cohort completed the programme versus 91% nationally.
- The wellbeing of our trainees is one of our key priorities, in our end of course evaluation 84.4% of trainees strongly agreed that Mid Essex was fully committed to supporting their wellbeing with 15.6% agreeing.
- Over 50% of trainees each year complete their training as a grade 1, meaning they are considered an outstanding classroom teacher.
- Mid Essex ITT is fully committed to fairness and equality. We strive to recruit from all backgrounds and value the diversity brings to the profession. We have full disabled access at our training venue and a number of our schools. We welcome any requests from applicants concerning anything we can do to support you as you apply to join the course.
