Learning Centre

As a school that loves to read, the Learning Centre plays an important role in the daily lives of all Hedingham School students. Our Library has a designated study area, providing specialised resources for every stage of your child’s education as well as 26 computers.

Opening Hours
Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm

Reading for pleasure
Reading for pleasure is an important focus of the library, located within our Learning Centre. We stock a wide range of materials to appeal to the different tastes of students, including magazines, fiction, graphic novels, dyslexia friendly literature, biographies and non-fiction. Once a week we encourage reading sessions during tutor time. Students regularly visit the Learning Centre to browse the resources on offer in the Library and engage in individual reading. Students can borrow 2 books at a time and are expected to carry a reading book in their bags at all times.

We regularly purchase new stock for the Library in fiction, and non-fiction to complement students work within their subjects. If a book is not available students are able to request literature and new titles by speaking to Mrs Page.

The Library stocks a wide range of non-fiction reference books and revision guides to support homework and revision. Students also have access to computers in the Learning Centre, alongside the Library.

Student Librarians
Student librarians attend a weekly duty in the library during which they learn how to shelve, catalogue and loan books to other students, as well as assisting with the technology used in the Learning Centre. Whilst on duty student librarians earn House Points.
