Students are exposed to and build knowledge in a variety of professional scripts, theatre styles and stimulus to improve skills within the key areas of Creating, Performing and Appreciation. We expect students to become more competent, confident and expert across the three areas.
Drama students focus on progressing in the following aspects each year, skill building, devising, scripted performance. We aim for our students to be able to confidently express themselves through the development of physical and vocal skills. The curriculum provides students with the opportunity to revisit and develop skills across different topic areas.
Through the study of different topic areas and professional scripts, students are exposed to different values, cultures and social contexts. This provides students with the opportunity to discuss view-points, and prepare students for life outside of education.
The Drama curriculum promotes a number of transferable skills including teamwork, communication, concentration, cooperation and imagination. We aim to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in a career in the Performing Arts Industry. Through the curriculum we encourage students to consider links to their next steps. Drama provides students will the regular opportunity to be involved in trips, workshops and productions, enriching students culture experiences.
