At Hedingham School our aim is that all students achieve their true potential and have all necessary information and guidance required to successfully take their next steps in education and careers.

Our Careers Programme:

The Gatsby Benchmarks

Our Careers Programme is underpinned by the Gatsby Benchmarks. The Gatsby Benchmarks are a framework of eight guidelines that define the best careers provision in schools and colleges. The benchmarks ensure there is a stable Careers Programme in place, which you can view by clicking the link below. Students are given access to current labour market information at various stages of their journey through our school and are able to make educated decisions based on that information. Our Careers Programme enables students to have guidance which is personalised to them and their career plan. Every learning area links their curriculum learning with careers and you can view this by clicking the link below. We give students multiple opportunities to engage with employers, employees and the workplace during their time at Hedingham through visits, talks, presentations and bespoke careers events. At key times in the educational life our students have meaningful encounters with further and higher education establishments. Finally, every student has the opportunity of a guidance interview, once before the age of 16 and once again before the age of 18.

Measurements of success

Student evaluations are carried out after each Careers event which form the basis for ongoing improvement of our Careers Programme. Students are asked for verbal feedback as well as filling in questionnaires about their experiences with the events. The success of our Careers Programme is ultimately determined by student destinations at the end of their time at Hedingham and we strive to ensure all students receive high quality careers advice and guidance so they are able to make informed decisions about their future.

Review Date: July 2020. Our Careers Programme is reviewed on an annual basis by our careers lead in school.
