In October, Sixth Form BTEC Music students at Hedingham School took part in an exciting workshop that was run by music industry specialist Sam Robson and Barney Holmes, who was a finalist on BBC’s’. The Voice’. The aim of the workshop was to understand how the music industry operates and also how to write a successful pop song. At the end of the workshop students performed some superb songs to each other which they had composed during the day. The workshop not only benefitted 6th formers but also Year 9 students.
Currently in lessons Year 9 are completing their own project on the music industry, and so fitting with this they had a brilliant hour-long presentation from Sam Robson with live music from Barney. The presentation was an interesting outline of how the music industry works and on the general promotion of the benefits of learning to play an instrument. The workshop was a great success for students and sixteen year old Imogen Legrove from Halstead who studies BTEC Music at Hedingham Sixth Form said, “The workshop was amazing and I loved working with Barney. I came back from it with some really good advice to help me with my singing.” The music department is hoping that a similar workshop can run again next term!
